Introduction to Precision Agricultural Technology

Catalog description
This course introduces students to the principles and practices of precision agriculture and the technologies that support modern farm management. Students will gain an understanding of agricultural machinery systems, including machine categories, characteristics, and safe operation procedures. Emphasis is placed on the calibration, selection, and maintenance of machinery to optimize efficiency, efficacy, and field performance. Learners will explore equipment sizing based on horsepower, field capacity, and intended use, as well as the economic considerations that guide technology selection. Through theoretical study, students will develop skills in the application of precision agriculture tools, data-driven decision-making, and emerging technologies shaping the future of agricultural production. Recommended Prerequisite: AGR 157 .
