Missouri Southern State University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
F, S, SU 3 Credit Hours Advanced Readings and Comprehensive Exam in SRM I is designed for M.S. in Sport and Recreation Management students who choose the comprehensive exam option for their graduate capstone. Each student will identify two specific areas of interest in SRM and discuss these interests with the faculty. The faculty will work with the student to develop a reading list for each of the two areas. The student will complete all assigned readings for the first area of interest and write annotated bibliographies and a literature review for SRM 670. In SRM 675, the student will complete the same for the second area of interest. At the end of SRM 675, the student will take a comprehensive exam, which requires the student to apply the concepts and knowledge learned from previous coursework and both sets of readings to answer a series of essay-format questions. This capstone option’s emphasis is on facilitating students’ critical thinking in content areas that interest them through reading, synthesizing, and reflecting on the literature. Prerequisite: EDUC 650
