Special Topics in Literacy

Catalog description

1-6 Credit Hours Designed to meet the in-service needs of school districts in advanced study on selected topics or emerging issues in the science of reading. Selected topics include Challenges of learning to read; English speech sounds; Phonics, Word Recognition, and Spelling; Decoding and Word Recognition; Oral Language and Vocabulary; Reading Comprehension; and the Reading-Writing Connection. The course may be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: Approval by advisor
