Fall & Spring 2 Credit Hours Focus is on effective teaching and learning strategies for the Middle School and Junior High students. Knowledge of teaching and curricular methods suitable to students in the Middle School and Junior High school and a comprehension of the nature of the above students both developmentally and academically are highlighted. Student communication and personal development are stressed through exploratory programs and the balance of teaching and learning styles. Through inquiry, problem solving and discovery methods, the course instructor will show the importance of content knowledge and its application to decision making. The student will recognize the responsibility of the teacher to inculcate the cultural knowledge base to his/her students and the importance of interdisciplinary units of instruction to achieve that end. Designed for Education majors seeking middle school certification (Grades 5-9) and for others interested in curriculum and instruction. Prerequisite: Junior Block
