Catalog description

An introduction to the statistical foundations of data-analytic techniques commonly used in Data Mining and the analysis of Big Data, including spline and kernel methods, principal component analysis, dimension reduction, neural networks, tree-based methods, nearest neighbors methods, support vector machines, bagging and boosting. Prerequisites: Math 2222, Math 3108 and one of Stat 3113 or Stat 3115 or Stat 3117 or Stat 5643.
