Catalog description

This course surveys the production, distribution, and consumption of media in Canada, the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean, focusing on media but also media professionals, entertainment talent, media audiences, scripts, platforms, and the enforcement of media regulation, among others. Of the many phenomena we cover, the course will explore the distribution of silent films from Europe to the U.S. and Latin America, the Mexico familial media dynasties, and Havana as a Latin American media.
