Catalog description

This course introduces foundational principles of patient-centered care and the development of effective professional communication skills in pharmacy practice. Students will explore the pharmacist's role in collaborative healthcare teams while emphasizing empathy, cultural competency, health literacy, and ethical practice. Instruction includes communication strategies for diverse audiences. The pharmacist-patient care process will be utilized to understand the approach to patient encounters. This course prepares students to build trusting relationships with patients and interprofessional colleagues to optimize health outcomes and develop their professional identity.
