As pharmacists assume the role of medication expert, they must learn how to evaluate the reliability of information to effectively implement the pharmacists’ patient care process (PPCP). Drug information and evidence based medicine is relevant in assessing, planning, implementing, and following up on a therapeutic plan within the PPCP. Throughout the course series, students will be taught a rigorous five-step systematic methodology assisting them with integrating this process into multidisciplinary healthcare decision-making for improved patient care. Evidence Based Medicine I focuses on the first three steps of this process: Define the Clinical Question, Retrieve Pertinent Information, and Evaluate Literature.
