Catalog description
This course is designed to prepare woman's health nurse practitioner students in the care and management of the childbearing woman. The focus of the course is on normal adaptation and pathologic alterations throughout the childbearing period. Emphasis is placed on management of women and families from preconception through the puerperium. Concepts, theories and evidence-based research related to the biopsychosocial and cultural aspects of childbearing are addressed. Core concepts include adaptation, stress and coping, grief and loss, pain and symptoms management.
