Catalog description

This course is designed to prepare students to manage psychiatric illness in individuals. Emphasis will be given to psychiatric disorders commonly encountered such as psychotic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders and substance use disorders. Focus will be on strengthening mental health diagnostic skills and management of psychiatric illness. Students will learn to identify and treat short term mental health issues, chronic disorders, and acute exacerbations. Psychotropic medication management skills will be developed.
