Catalog description

This course is designed to prepare adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner (AGNP) students to care for and manage common health problems of the adult patient. The focus is on developmentally appropriate preventive health care and management of common acute and episodic illnesses while being mindful of cultural characteristic differences. Students will integrate role competencies, professional standards, and legal requirements essential to the AGNP role. Core content includes differential diagnosis, therapeutic management, adherence, anticipatory guidance, education of the adult patient and their defined family, inclusivity, legal and professional issues, standards of practice, and advanced practice role competencies. This 5 credit hour course consists of 2.5 credit hours of didactic/discussion per week and 2.5 credit hours (206.25) hours of clinical/lab per semester.
