Catalog description

This course explores the principles, methods, and ethical considerations surrounding the use of real-world healthcare data (RWHD) in research. The course equips students with an in-depth understanding of RWHD and experience with cloud-based analytics tools on which they can build in future roles as health professionals or researchers. Instruction combines discussion-oriented lectures with guided labs and a practical project. Students learn how EHR data are generated and governed, how to frame questions, design studies, and define computable cohorts, and how to clean, integrate, and analyze data using cloud-based analytics.
