Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with approaches to community-based participatory research (CBPR). Students in this course gain a broad understanding of CBPR principles and methods (e.g., forming collaborations with community partners, conducting needs assessments, and developing a community-based health project) through extensive readings, class discussions, written assignments, and in and out of class applied learning activities. Students also develop a project of joint interest with a community partner that enhances the capacity of the partner’s organization.
