Catalog description

Bioinformatics tools allow us to manipulate, utilize, and learn from vast amounts of biological data. Familiarity with core bioinformatics concepts and widely used tools enables us to leverage biological data and transform it into meaningful biological information. The course focuses on traditional and evolving bioinformatics technologies, covering core applications such as sequence alignments, and newer genomics related topics. Students independently perform gene and protein-based bioinformatics queries and analyses. Core biological principles and mechanisms of action are explained, as are technology and computational topics. Students will become proficient with public bioinformatics resources.
