Catalog description

This course provides students an overview of the major provisions of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), enacted in 1974 to protect funds set aside for workers’ pension and health and welfare benefits. Title I of ERISA was created because of public concern that funds of private pension plans were being mismanaged and abused. ERISA has expanded since 1974 to encompass more areas of in the health arena such as the Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity Addiction Equity Act.
