Catalog description

This course will explore the rights (or lack thereof) to health and wellness in the United States. It will consider the origins of health inequity in the United States, and compare U.S. healthcare to that in other countries. The course will address specific inequities involving race, gender, and disability and how those inequities adversely impact health and wellbeing. It will also address efforts to provide some rights in health care, such as HIPAA privacy and security, informed consent, and religious freedom in health care decisions.
