Catalog description
This course will involve an in-depth examination of laws and norms applicable to the concept of sustainability and to the possibility of enhancing legal protections for the earth and people. It will identify environmental threats to society and the rule of law, including climate change and rising sea levels. The course will address relevant environmental laws, treaties, and concepts, including reference to the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Public Trust Doctrine, the Kyoto Protocol, and concepts related to sustaining human and nonhuman life, the stable state society, communitarianism, environmental justice, and ESG (environment, sustainability, governance).
