Catalog description

This course will introduce students to the laws governing the administration of federal veterans’ benefits, and the military discharge upgrade process. Students will learn about the military veteran experience and the challenges veterans face after separating from active-duty service with a “bad paper” discharge. Students will be introduced to the laws governing the administration of benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the military discharge upgrade process. The focus of the course will be on how lawyers can help veterans overcome the obstacles preventing them from obtaining benefits from the VA.
