Catalog description

This course introduces students to the centrality of statutes and regulations in U.S. law. Using a variety of examples, the course explores statutory interpretation, the legislative process, and the role of public law and administrative regulation, with emphasis on lawyering skills in reading and applying statutes and regulations. Topics covered include creation of state and federal statutes and regulations (including introduction to the Administrative Procedure Act), judicial review of agency action, the nature and role of administrative agencies and related policy debates, and agency adjudication.
