Catalog description

The advanced dental treatment planning course applies the principles and guidelines for comprehensive dental treatment planning for “in-classroom” patient case-based presentations and group discussions via PowerPoint presentations of patient cases. Multidisciplinary cases will be used to show how to diagnostically work-up a patient case utilizing photographic documentation, mounted casts, and diagnostic wax-ups. The mechanics of treatment planning will be reviewed to determine findings, problems, etiology, diagnosis, prognosis, formulation of optimal and alternative treatment plans, and sequence of therapy. Evidenced based decision-making guides and justifies the entire process. Students will be encouraged to put together their own presentations for discussion.
