Catalog description

Basic disease mechanisms involved in the evolution of the inflammatory periodontal lesion, i.e., the interaction of the host tissues with the oral microbial flora are introduced. The full range of periodontal and peri implant conditions are covered. The course reinforces the science of periodontology and its relationship to the clinical practice of periodontics. Students gain an understanding of the basic knowledge of periodontics, the foundation of subsequent courses addressing anti-infective and surgical therapies, and periodontal/restorative dentistry relationships.
