Catalog description

This course offers students an opportunity to receive training in research techniques employed by anthropologists in a range of subfields, including cultural anthropology and archaeology. This field school will provide students opportunity to design projects using established techniques for collecting and documenting cultural data. It will expose students to environments such as archives, laboratories, and excavation sites where a range of research projects can be studied and pursued. This course will also introduce students to a range of strategies for recording and analyzing data such as interviews, participant observations, and archived and excavated materials. Students will learn how to engage subjects, keep records, create artifact catalogs and solve routine problems that can emerge in the field.
