Advanced Spanish Conversation for Effective Communication in Healthcare

Deepens students' proficiency in spoken Spanish within professional healthcare contexts. Students will enhance their oral expression, grammatical control, and critical thinking through discussions of contemporary health-related topics, including patient help and assessment, healthcare system, health issues and occupational well-being. Course activities include simulated patient-provider interactions, structured debates, oral presentations, and the analysis of authentic materials from the Spanish-speaking world for class discussions. Students will acquire specialized health related vocabulary while developing strategies for effective, empathetic, and culturally competent communication in Spanish-speaking contexts. Credit Hour s : 3 Prerequisites: SPAN 2160 or Instructor consent required
