(cross-leveled with SOIL 4308 ).This course is an advanced assessment of soil properties and designed to touch on many topics in soil conservation and land use. The physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil across various land uses will be discussed and analyzed in lectures. The spatial variability of soils due to the five soil forming factors and four soil forming processes will be at the forefront of each lecture and lab section. This course allows students to expand their "lens" of soil science from introductory to an advanced understanding of the soil profile. A layered approach allows students to develop a model of soil conservation across specific land uses common to the state and surrounding regions. Credit Hour s : 3 Prerequisites: SOIL 2100 Recommended: SOIL 2106 or SOIL 3500
