Special Health Care Needs of Children

Catalog description
This course builds upon the advanced practice foundational courses of pathophysiology, pharmacology, advanced physical assessment, and primary care management of newborns through adolescence to prepare students to assume roles in advanced nursing care of infants, children, and adolescents. Emphasis is placed on clinical assessment and decision-making in the provision of direct patient care within a defined scope of practice. Students will synthesize prior learning and apply previous strategies to the diagnosis and holistic management of common acute, chronic, and mental health problems in this population. Graded on A-F basis only. Credit Hour : 3.5-5 Prerequisites: NURSE 7120 , NURSE 7130 , NURSE 7140 , NURSE 7145 and NURSE 8420 or Instructor's consent required
