Role of Inactivity in Chronic Diseases

Catalog description
This course is designed to provide an understanding of selected topics related to physical inactivity and chronic diseases and conditions including obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, vascular dysfunction, atherosclerosis, heart failure, and dementia. Specifically, this course will focus on examining the scientific evidence supporting the role of sedentarism as a causal factor in the development of chronic diseases and the role of physical activity as a mitigating factor. Graded on A-F basis only. Credit Hour s : 3 Prerequisites: NEP 1340 and MPP 3202 or BIO_SC 3700 - NEP majors must receive a C- or better in the pre-reqs
