Introduction to Therapeutic Arts for Artists and Art Educators

Catalog description

This course will provide an introduction to the concepts of art therapy and how these concepts can be implemented in contemporary art educational settings. Course topics will include: an overview of the field of art therapy, the overlap of art therapy principles and art education practice, visual culture, and experiential art making. The course will delve into ways which art can be used to work with multicultural populations, those experiencing grief, loss, or serious illness, as well as the impact of trauma on learning. Graded on A-F basis only. Credit Hour s : 3
