Contemporary Perspectives on the Teaching of Reading

In this class we will explore prominent contemporary perspectives on literacy development and instruction. The course explores three primary perspectives: The Science of Reading, Digital Literacies, Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies. We will examine scholarship on each of these perspectives to promote an understanding of ways researchers and educators conceptualize them and their relevance for teaching and learning.
