Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to develop skill in facilitating mathematical discourse that builds on children's mathematical thinking and the use of teaching practices that provide all children with opportunities to learn important mathematics, with a focus on fraction operations, measurement, and geometry. The course addresses issues of equity in mathematics teaching, focusing on deconstructing dominant narratives about mathematical competence and using practices that highlight the contributions of marginalized children. Graded on A-F basis only. Credit Hour s : 3 Recommended: Admittance to the mid-level of the Elementary Education program, LTC 4300
