Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to explore the development of children's mathematical thinking, focusing on number and operations with whole numbers and early fractions. It also supports the development of skills for eliciting, interpreting, and responding to children's mathematical thinking. The course addresses issues of equity in mathematics teaching, focusing on structural sources of inequity (e.g., tracking) and an orientation toward recognizing and affirming children's mathematical strengths. Graded on A-F basis only. Credit Hour s : 3 Recommended: Admittance to the mid-level of the Elementary Education program
