Missouri Criminal Practice

Catalog description

This course provides courtroom skills training. Students will learn Missouri criminal practice and procedure as they follow a criminal case fact pattern from the time of the crime up to trial. The course will consist of lecture and discussion on the weekly topic, live and/or video demonstrations, and exercises/simulations. Some simulations will occur outside of the regularly scheduled class time. Students can anticipate participating in the following simulations: Drafting criminal charges, Initial appearance/Bond hearing, Grand jury indictment proceedings, Arraignment, Discovery requests/responses, Fact investigation: crime scene/evidence view/records requests, Witness interviews, Suppression motions/hearing, Plea negotiation, Plea & sentencing dispositions, Probation revocation motions/hearing, Client/victim counseling. Credit Hour : 1-4 Prerequisites or Corequisites: LAW 5240 and LAW 5260
