Catalog description
This course will examine legal rules and issues relating to the formation, maintenance, and dissolution of family relationships. Key topics include how the concept of family is defined under the law, the constitutional framework for familial rights, regulation of marriage and divorce, marital and cohabitation agreements, the establishment of legal parentage, child custody and support, spousal support, and property distribution upon divorce. The course will also highlight and engage students in contemporary law and policy debates within the field. Credit Hour : 1-3
