Interdisciplinary course related to the phenomenon of migration and settlement from Korea. Course seeks to deepen understanding of the ways in which Korean immigrants have shaped and continue to shape social thought as well as institutions in the United States, Japan and China. Draws upon literature, history and cultural studies to examine experiences of Koreans living in the U.S., Japan and China. Through reading critical literatures, students address issues such as immigration history, race/ethnicity, racism and resistance, gender and sexuality, culture and identity, labor, migration and globalization, class, education, religion. Credit Hour s : 3 Prerequisites: sophomore standing or instructor's consent required
