ISE 8410
Machine Learning and Prescriptive Analytics for Decision Intelligence
University of Missouri-Columbia · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Explores advanced data analytics, machine learning, and prescriptive analytics methods applied to solving real-world engineering and operations challenges. The course integrates the three pillars of analytics: (i) descriptive analytics for data exploration and visualization, (ii) predictive analytics using supervised and unsupervised learning for prediction, classification, and pattern discovery, and (iii) prescriptive analytics methods that address real-world decision problems through metaheuristic search algorithms and reinforcement learning. Emphasizes Python-based implementation, including data preprocessing, model development, evaluation, and visualization to support intelligent, analytics-driven decisions in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, healthcare, and service operations. Graded on A-F basis only. Credit Hour s : 3
