Catalog description

An examination the interaction between Earth and human society. We will seek to understand the fundamental workings and characteristics of Earth's major systems, their role in human well-being, and human impacts on these systems. Topics include mineral, water, and energy resources, volcanic hazards, earthquakes, landslides, floods, coastal erosion, pollution problems and environmental management. Course includes an in-class field trip to Rock Bridge Memorial State Park where the interactions of surface water, groundwater, and rocks will be examined to explore potential hazards like sinkholes and water pollution. For the Mizzou Online sections, there will not be required lectures, lab, and field trip. Credit Hour s : 4
