Catalog description

This is a one-credit-hour, fully online course for students enrolled in the undergraduate GIS Certificate Program. It is designed to introduce students to the burgeoning field of Public GIS, which involves the use of geospatial applications and analysis in government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and civil society. Students will engage with real-world examples of projects, issues, and debates in public GIS, and will earn practical experience in case-study applications with the Missouri Spatial Data Information Service (MSDIS). Professional development for a career in public GIS will be integrated into course curriculum, including information on internships, resume and professional networking, and continuing education in GIS software and technology. Graded on A-F basis only. Credit Hour : 1
