(cross-leveled with ECONOM 4366 ). This course examines the causes and consequences of crime and the criminal justice system using the tools of economics. Students will learn how causal inference tools are applied to test economic theories and analyze crime-related policies. A significant component of the course involves reading and discussing empirical research papers from the economics of crime literature. Topics include the effects of policies related to incarceration, policing, guns, drugs, and alcohol.
