(cross-leveled with ECONOM 7366 ). This course examines the causes and consequences of crime and the criminal justice system using the tools of economics. Students will learn how causal inference tools are applied to test economic theories and analyze crime-related policies. A significant component of the course involves reading and discussing empirical research papers from the economics of crime literature. Topics include the effects of policies related to incarceration, policing, guns, drugs, and alcohol. Credit Hour s : 3 Prerequisites: ECONOM 1014 and ECONOM 3271 or STAT 2200 , STAT 2500 , STAT 4710 , STAT 4750 , ABM 2225 . May be restricted to Economics majors only during early registration
