Introduction to Astrochemistry

Introduction to Astrochemistry is a graduate-level course covering the chemistry and physics which gave rise to the Modern Universe, as well as that which currently governs the way in which new species are formed, destroyed, and measured. We examine the events that immediately followed the Big Bang, the vast interstellar medium, Solar system and planet formation, and the number of routes by which complex organic molecules form. Throughout this course, it will be clear that the Universe, though largely inhospitable, is host to a rich chemistry that gave rise to life as we know it. Graded on A-F basis only.
