Credits: 3 The purpose of this course is to prepare students to recognize child advocacy and child health issues around the world. The course will include discussion of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, child labor, child trafficking, child soldiers, children affected by war and conflict, child maltreatment, adoption, educational issues, child health, and issues particularly affecting the female child, such as sex-selective abortion, female genital mutilation, child brides, and sex trafficking. Selected prevention education and intervention programs will be examined throughout the course. Also Listed as: WGS 327
