Catalog description

Credits: 3 Prerequisite: ED 302 and ED 361 Prerequisite/Corequisite: ED 367 (Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education majors) The purpose of this course is to introduce teacher candidates to strategies for integrating reading and writing across curriculum. Students will demonstrate knowledge of developmental and research-based instructional strategies and interventions to support students’ content area literacy. Principles of explicit and systematic instruction of core aspects of reading and writing across the curriculum are studied and practiced. Note: 10 hours of field experience is required for P12 and secondary education majors; Elementary Education majors must take this course with ED 367 for field experience; no exemptions will be granted. Elementary Education majors: Minimum grade of C is required for this course. This course can only be taken twice
