Catalog description

This course explores the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in modern healthcare. Students will learn fundamental AI and machine learning concepts, including data science techniques, and their applications in various healthcare domains. The course covers AI's impact on medical diagnosis (image analysis, NLP of records, diagnostic tools), drug discovery and development (AI-driven design, personalized medicine), and healthcare operations (predictive analytics, automation, patient engagement). Advanced topics include ethical considerations (bias, privacy), AI in genomics and precision medicine, mental health, and healthcare policy/regulation. This course provides a foundational understanding of AI in healthcare. Restricted to sophomore, junior or senior status.
