ENGR 251
Fluids and Thermodynamics.
Minot State University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
Fluids and Thermodynamics introduces the principles of thermodynamics, including concepts of heat, temperature, ideal gas laws, and the Laws of Thermodynamics as they apply to energy transfer and heat engines. The second major focus is on the behavior of continuous media, examining both fluid statics (pressure, buoyancy) and fluid dynamics (flow and continuity). We will also investigate the fundamental mechanics of mechanical waves. Upon completion, you'll be able to apply fundamental physical laws to solve problems involving the behavior of fluids, thermal systems, and mechanical waves. Prerequisite: MATH 165 .
