Sustainability of the oceans and the life they harbor has remained a global priority for decades. The immense biodiversity found in marine environments has contributed significantly to biomedical research, with numerous medical breakthroughs originating from oceanic organisms. Topics include the diversity of marine life, from algae to marine mammals, and the intersection of marine biology with human health. Emphasis is placed on critical evaluation of peer-reviewed literature and the ethical, ecological, and scientific considerations involved in advancing medicine through marine resources while safeguarding ocean ecosystems. prereq: 2311
