The student, under the supervision of a faculty member, pursues a research topic in that faculty member’s area of expertise. Approval of the research topic and project scope is required. In this course, the student conducts a literature search in the research area, defines the problem statement, develops a project plan, and begins the main body of research and produces a set of preliminary work pertaining to the project.
