Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to strengthen and refine communication skills for professional settings, particularly in explaining complex content to audiences. Students will develop and apply strategies for using presentation tools and materials effectively in multiple workplace-focused applications. Advanced techniques will help students build on foundational skills to use graphic elements effectively and create multi-modal audio and visual supports. Collaborative projects will help students plan and coordinate effectively and further develop interpersonal and leadership skills. Students will strengthen individual and team delivery skills through practice and critical analysis of performances. Typical projects include individual and collaborative presentations, formal and informal interactions with audiences outside the classroom setting and creating and analyzing presentations that communicate complex content.
