Catalog description

Materials drive advancements in our society and the products/devices/components that scientists and engineers develop are all made of materials. This course focuses on the primary types of materials and composites as well as the relationships between the structural elements of materials and their properties. The course topics include atomic structure and interatomic bonding, mechanical, thermal, and deteriorative properties of materials, material synthesis and characterization, and materials in engineering design.
