Catalog description

This course examines the intersection of psychology and the legal system, emphasizing how psychological science informs law, policy, and the pursuit of justice. Students will explore the roles and ethical responsibilities of mental health professionals operating within legal settings and analyze how psychological theories and methods are used to assess behavior, responsibility, and credibility. Through the examination of case law, empirical research, and applied clinical examples, students will critically evaluate the benefits and limitations of applying psychological knowledge within criminal investigations, courtrooms, and broader legal contexts.
