Chronic Health Challenges (ASD)

Catalog description

The emphasis of this course is the professional nurse as care provider, care coordinator, and advocate for individuals and families experiencing chronic health conditions. Students explore chronicity from a theoretical basis and apply the nursing process to chronic illness related issues across the life span. A foundation for empathetic nursing care is laid through discussion of trauma, health disparities and social determinants of health, developmental issues, and the cumulative effects of chronic health from the perspective of the client. Clinical experience is a component of this course.
