Supportive Care for End-of-Life, Mental Health, and Trauma-Informed Care

Catalog description

This course focuses on the application of the nursing process with individuals and families in need of supportive care, with specific focus on mental health, trauma-informed care, and end of life. Effective use of resources, including biomedical and mobile technology, to promote self-efficacy and improved health outcomes for clients will be used across the continuum of care. Students explore their own implicit bias and therapeutic use of self as they apply effective assessment, communication, and intervention strategies in the care of individuals and families across the lifespan. Legal, ethical, and moral issues as well as the impact of culture, stigma, and access when advocating for clients and families in need of supportive care are examined and debated. To promote well-being as a future healthcare provider, students explore strategies to foster their own personal health and resiliency. Clinical experience is a component of this course.
